Women’s Services Memorial Day 13 August 2023
Women’s Services Memorial Day takes place here at the Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial on Sunday 13th August. We have noted that this year marks the Centenary of the Royal Air Force Nursing Service gaining Royal Patronage and becoming the Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service and we are duly making this the focus of our ceremony and Service.
We would therefore extend a warm welcome to any appropriate official, to join us on the day to represent the Service and Association. The Ceremony will commence at approximately 13:30pm with a short Parade of Service Association personnel with any Standards being presented to our Women’s Memorial Garden for a Wreath Laying ceremony, before moving to our Station Chapel for a Service of Commemoration.

Head of Memorials & Heritage
The PMRAFNS Association were well represented on the day led by the President/DNS RAF Group Captain Emma Redman/WO Kay Ward and a contingent of PMRAFNS Veterans. The following photographs say it all.
What a great honour for the PMRAFNS Association to be well represented.

PMRAFNS Association Cocktail Part 15 June 2023
Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service (PMRAFNS) is the nursing branch of the Royal Air Force
It was established as the Royal Air Force Temporary Nursing Service (RAFNS) in 1918, and became part of the permanent establishment as the Royal Air Force Nursing Service on 27 January 1921. It received the Royal Prefix after Princess Mary agreed to become its Patron in June 1923.
To celebrate the centenary of the Royal Patronage a church service was held in St Clement Danes Church, the Central Church of the Royal Air Force, followed by a cocktail party at the RAF Club. The service was well attended and appropriate for the occasion.

Cocktail Party RAF Club
A lovely evening was enjoyed by all that attended, lots of talking drinking and eating and exchanging stories from the past with old friends.

PMRAFNS Symposium 2023 RAF Halton
This was the first time that the PMRAFNS Association was present at the PMRAFNS Symposium, it was an opportunity for the Association to inform our serving colleagues of the work of the Association. We were made to very welcome by our serving colleagues and hopefully picked up some new members on the way. There were some interesting presentations over the two days and an exceptional dinner at Halton House on the 29th. Thanks to Group Capt. Redman DNS for allowing the Association to attend the Symposium.
